| Abstract: | La investigación explora conocimientos y reacciones emocionales-conductuales de un grupo de hombres, frente al acoso sexual callejero dirigido a la mujer. Se utilizó un cuestionario autoadministrado a 25 estudiantes y profesores de la carrera de psicología de la Universidad Latina de Costa Rica. Se indagaron los componentes del acoso sexual callejero y sus diferentes manifestaciones, así como las respuestas de los encuestados ante estas situaciones de acoso. La mayoría de los encuestados han presenciado, por lo menos, un evento de este tipo y las respuestas emocionales de los participantes en estas situaciones han sido principalmente negativas. Sin embargo, abstenerse de actuar genera sentimientos de impotencia. Los resultados también demuestran la necesidad de educación formal sobre el acoso sexual callejero y las leyes que rigen a nivel nacional, en la población en estudio, ya que muchos de los conocimientos de los encuestados provienen de argumentos subjetivos. |
| Description: | Abstract: The current research explores the knowledge and emotional-behavioral reactions of a group of men on street sexual harassment towards women. For the study, a self-administered questionnaire was applied to 25 participants, all of them students and professors of the Psychology faculty at the Universidad Latina de Costa Rica. The participants were inquired about the components of street sexual harassment, its different manifestations, and their opinions towards it. The vast majority of the respondents have witnessed, at least, an event of this type. The emotional responses in these situations have been primarily negative however, to abstain from stopping street sexual harassment generates feelings of powerlessness. The results also demonstrated the need of formal education on street sexual harassments, as well as on the laws that rule nationally, on the studied population due to the fact that most of the knowledge of the survey population is based on subjective elements |
